Interim Pastor

Pastor Joe Gerkin is currently the Interim Pastor at Christ Community Church. He has degrees from Moody Bible Institute and Cornerstone University, and is in his 50th year of full-time ministry. He was Executive Director of 2 Midwest ministries: a  church-planting mission and a prison ministry. His passion over the years has been the local church. He has served as a Youth Pastor, 3 Senior Pastorates, and in partnership with Interim Pastor Ministries serving currently in his 6th Interim Pastorate. Joe and his wife Barbara have been married for 52 years and reside in Grand Rapids, MI. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. As he seeks to fulfill his Pastoral/Pastoral Search role here at CCC he also seeks to exist as a St. Louis Cardinal fan in Chicago Cub territory!

Joe Nowak

Interim Worship Director

Joe is the CCC Interim Worship Director and has led worship at various churches over the last 30 years. He has a BA in Interpersonal and Group Communications from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Il. Originally from the Chicago area, Joe and his wife Lorey have been married for 44 years and moved to Princeton in 2006. They have two children and five grandchildren. Joe enjoys playing and teaching guitar, camping, and riding his motorcycle.

Sheila Johnsen

Sheila Johnsen

Worship Assistant

Sheila is assistant to our Worship Director.  She helps select music for worship on Sundays, plays piano and helps the worship team practice on Wednesday nights.  Sheila has played the piano at Christ community Church for over 37 years. She grew up on a farm one half mile north of Wyanet and is the assistant librarian at the Raymond A. Sapp library in Wyanet.  Reading is a life long love of Sheila as well as music, nature and going to the movies. Her family consists of two daughters, the oldest is Heidi who is married and has three children, while her younger daughter, Lyndsey, is in social work.

Meg Murphey

Counselor

Meg Murphey is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with Path of Life Counseling at Christ Community Church.  Meg obtained her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University in Family Social Services and her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College graduate school.  She has worked in residential, hospital and outpatient settings.  She received her passion for counseling during the seven years she spent with Youth With A Mission when God began healing her emotional wounds.   Meg’s heart’s desire is for Christians to experience the reality of God’s grace and truth so they might live an abundant life of peace and joy in Christ.  She is married to her wonderful husband Scott and enjoys swimming, walking, reading, writing, gardening, decorating and traveling.

Interim Office Manager

Kathy is the CCC Interim Office Manager.

Kathy is filling in as office manager but, is no stranger to this position.  She served in this position for 10 years before retiring and has been helping out whenever needed.  Kathy is married 45 years to her farmer husband, Ken.  Her passion is her family:  3 children, 3 children-in-love and her 9 grandkids.   She enjoys teaching a women’s weekly Bible study, walking, card making, her flower beds and spending time with girl friends!

Meredith Benson

Meredith Benson

Children's Ministry Coordinator

Meredith Benson is our Children’s Ministry Coordinator. Meredith grew up in Colorado and moved to the Princeton area 4 years ago. She and her husband, Kris, have been married for 8 years and have been blessed with two children: Kristoffer  and Emily. Meredith has a BSc. in Clinical Integrative Therapeutic Practice and Nutrition from Metropolitan State University in Denver. The outdoors is where Meredith goes to get close to God. She loves hiking, camping, kayaking, rafting, good food and spending time with family.  CCC has been a family to Meredith after moving away from their own family. She is eager to serve alongside this ministry and help lead little minds to learning God’s big truths for their lives.
