Living Out God’s Love
As followers of Christ, we're called to a profound purpose: to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. This dual commandment, found in Matthew 22:36-40, forms the foundation of our faith journey. It's not just about attending church; it's about being the church. We're challenged to reflect on how our daily lives - our calendars, checkbooks, work, and relationships - demonstrate our love for God.
This love isn't just an emotion, but an action that should permeate every aspect of our lives. The early church in Acts 2:42-47 gives us a powerful example of this love in action. They devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. Their faith wasn't confined to a building, but overflowed into their everyday lives, sharing possessions and meeting needs. As we contemplate this, let's ask ourselves: How can we embody this kind of transformative love in our own communities?
